Tales of the Tomb


Some of Visalia's most interesting citizens can be found at the Visalia Public Cemetery. Take a guided tour through the cemetery and learn about some of our most notorious citizens and about our rich history that dates back to the 1800s. Ron Greenlee, who has worked at the cemetery for nearly 40 years, leads the tours. Some of the interesting people and places you'll see on this tour include:

  • Tour the Old Mausoleum which was built in 1921
  • Visit the Cemetery Chapel, built in 1911
  • Read the headstones and hear the stories of some interesting Visalians include a Donner Party survivor, notorious outlaws and newspaper men of the 1800's
  • View the niche memorial from a victim of 9-11 twin towers plane crash
  • See Murals painted by local artists
  • See a 100+ year-old Oak Tree planted in 1911
  • View interesting mausoleums of local families

Call ahead of time to book a tour with Ron Greenlee. Cost is $10 per person (walk or by golf cart.)
