ANNOUNCING THE TOP SUMMER GETAWAY: VISALIA, CALIFORNIA

Visit Visalia Lists New Activities, Venues and Events this June and July

Visalia, Calif. (June 6, 2019) – Visalia, located in Central California with easy access from major cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, announced its summertime activity schedule today. The entertainment destination, nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, is the most robust city near Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks.

The summer getaway announcement comes shortly after the U.S. Travel Association issued a study stating that 52% of Americans have unused vacation time.

“Visalia is the new go-to spot in Central California,” said Demea Metcalf, Visit Visalia Executive Director. “Make use of those vacation days and come check out all that Visalia has to  offer. Whether you want to relax or adventure, we are the destination where you can do both—or actually—you can do it all.”

This summer, visitors will have a new attraction to add to the growing list. Sequoia Springs Splash Park, a 42-foot water structure with four slides, will open mid to late-June at Visalia Adventure Park. The splash park features timed water dumps, water cannons and spinners.

Visalia will host a quintessential, All America Fourth of July celebration on July 3 at the Rawhide Ballpark. Other events and activities include a full entertainment line up at the Fox Theatre, Boots Brews and Bacon Festival at the Visalia Convention Center and, of course, any and all Ranger activities at the National Parks.

The summer activities, venues and events in Visalia suit all needs, whether   you want to disconnect and get away from it all …  or you want to take the kids for a fun- filled, family vacation.

“It’s urban enough for people who like attractions. It’s rural enough for people who want to escape. It’s outdoorsy enough for people who want adventure,” said Robert Lee,  Board Member of the Visalia Tourism Marketing District and General Manager of the Lamp Liter  Inn. “People are still amazed that we have a place where they can accomplish it all in one  trip. It’s the everybody destination.”

Visalia offers hotel accommodations from affordable to luxury, rustic to modern. Just off Highway 198, there are more than a dozen properties. “Whether you have planned ahead or just hop in the car for a spur-of-the-moment road trip, Visalia is the perfect place to stay the night and explore,” Metcalf said.  “Our city will surprise you.”
