SOCCER CITY 1852 VISALIA BREAKS GROUND ON INNOVATIVE NEW SPORTS FACILITY

“Footy and Brews” to provide unique entertainment option for visitors

Visalia, Calif. (Dec. 17, 2021) - Visit Visalia is excited to announce that a new and innovative sports facility broke ground that will be the first of its kind in the Central Valley. Soccer City 1852 Visalia is a unique sports venue that combines street-style soccer with local craft brews making it an ideal gathering spot. Located in Visalia’s downtown dining and entertainment district, this project will add an exciting new option for visitors to the city. The project is currently underway and expected to be completed in March 2022.

The ‘footy and brews’ concept combines fast paced street-style five-on-five soccer played tournament style with a new brewery for spectators called 1852 Brew Co. The soccer facility will include three fully-enclosed courts with artificial turf and will host pick-up games, tournaments, clinics and more.  The new brewery, taproom and beer garden will serve delicious South Valley beers along with micro-brews crafted by brew master Will Peltzer, a local farmer who honed his beer-making skills in San Diego at Karl Strauss Brewery. The 1852 Taproom will be open to the public and highlight local history and soccer.

“Our vision is to create a destination that brings people together. Sports can forge friendships whether cheering on players from the sidelines or when playing shoulder-to-shoulder on the field,” stated founder and CEO Jeremy Schultz. “The international appeal of soccer we think will make Soccer City 1852 Visalia a popular attraction for visitors from around the globe.”

1852 Visalia will host tournaments, attracting players from outside of the area for soccer as well as for corn hole and dodgeball.  “Visit Visalia is thrilled to see a facility of this caliber open in our community,” said Nellie Freeborn, executive director of Visit Visalia. “Whether sports enthusiasts from across the state come for tournament play or visitors from around the globe come to grab a beer and soak up the local atmosphere after a day exploring Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, Soccer City 1852 Visalia will be a perfect gathering place.”
