HE LEFT HIS HEART IN VISALIA

Kevin’s passion for acting was ignited in Visalia.  His return gave him the opportunity to explore Visalia’s rich history and rediscover some of his most memorable attractions, including Sequoia National Park.

From the hit television series “Parks and Rec” to live stage productions, Kevin Symon’s Lived Visalian to rest, relax and rejuvenate.

Kevin stayed at The Darling Hotel in the heart of downtown Visalia where contemporary luxury blends with timeless architecture and vintage-modern décor.

Exploring the history and culture of the downtown district was an easy walk from the hotel. Kevin started the day at Component Coffee Lab, a favorite spot of locals for coffee and breakfast eats. Owner Greg demonstrated their roasting process to get their beans just the right flavor.

The Visalia Fox Theatre

The Visalia Fox Theatre is home to the Sequoia Symphony Orchestra. Comedians, musicians, theater performances, dancers, and even Kevin, take the stage.

Lofts at Fort Visalia

The Lofts at Fort Visalia has an onsite gallery and studio space for resident artists to express their creativity. Large three-story tall murals adorn the sides of the building. Follow our self-guided Mural Tour to see more.

The Heritage Room

This micro-museum houses photos of historic Visalia as well as a 3D model of Fort Visalia. See photos of early Visalia including one of the earliest known photos. The Visalia Then and Now historic walking tour includes a stop at The Heritage Room.

Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks are just a short drive from Visalia. The General Sherman Tree is the largest living thing on earth and travelers come from all over the world to see these majestic giants. Kevin and Janice spent the day exploring the giant sequoias, Crescent Meadow, and even climbed to the top of Tunnel Rock!

Brewbakers Brewing Co.

Kevin dropped in for beer at Brewbakers, a local favorite that is on the site of Visalia's very first beer garden. Look for the Visalia Stock Saddle on display.

Taylor Brothers Hot Dog

When Kevin was in high school (and still today) kids gathered at Taylor's before the big rivalry football game. The menu hasn't changed and neither has the neon pup wagging its tail atop the stand.

Scoops Ice Cream

Inside The Mix on Main St are several restaurants including Scoops, which serves up some of the best, homemade ice cream. There is nothing better on a warm summer night.
