Writer, performer, and outdoorsman Steve Jones Lived Visalian on and off the trails.
You too can have Days Like These.
Set among the orange grove on Visalia's edge, this serene retreat - with sweeping mountain views - was the ideal spot for Steve to rest, relax, and rejuvenate.
The road into Sequoia wraps around Kaweah Lake that is filled with mountain snow melt and invites visitors to explore. Traveling around the lake is the perfect transition from fast-paced highway to giant sequoias.
The professional jouster meets the International Cowboy Girls at Riata Ranch. Performance riding and trail riding rejuvenated the cowboy musician.
Downtown Visalia boasts unique retailers, including an independent vinyl shop, where Steve found copies of some of his early recordings and signed a copy of Asia’s album with its hit song written by Steve Jones, “Days Like These.”
Kathleen picked Steve up early from The Tree House to head into Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. Just below the famous Sequoia Sign the Kaweah River roars past. The sound of the river helps Steve to really connect with the outdoors. They spent the day climbing Moro Rock, standing in awe of the giant sequoias, and taking in the spectacular views.
This rock legend also loves rock climbing. Getting to the top of this popular park destination doesn't require special ropes or gear, just the willpower to climb 350 stairs!
The foothills just outside the park offer miles of trails. Saddle up and head for the hills for an experience that will make you feel like you're in the Wild West.
Living Visalian means relaxing at a local spot, talking over the day's events. Steve and Kathleen ended their day on the patio, sipping a beer and savoring the cool vibes.
Steve loves to play his guitar whenever he has the chance. The stage at Barrel House was the perfect spot for a short jam session before relaxing on the patio with a good beer and great company. Reflecting on his time in Visalia and exploring the nearby national parks, Steve was surprised by how much he enjoyed his stay and grateful to Live Visalian.
