EXPERIENCE ROARING WATERFALLS IN SPRING

As winter melts into spring, the snow melts into waterfalls. There's nothing quite like gazing upon the rushing water as it flows over the rocks and hills above. As you stand near the base in awe, you feel the cool mist float over you. Come and experience the beauty of the seasons changing when you visit Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park in springtime.

Tokopah Falls Trail is one of the most popular trails in Sequoia National Park. This 3.4 mile out-and-back trail follows a deep glaciated canyon on the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River. Standing guard over this canyon to the south is the Watchtower, a granite monolith rising almost 2,000 feet above the canyon floor.

Rising 630 feet in total, this trail is an easy and scenic hike. Along with the river you can enjoy meadows, mountain views and giant trees as you walk through nature. Many also enjoy taking a dip in the pool below the fall when the water around is calm and snowmelt has slowed.

Marble Falls Trail is a 7.4 mile round-trip hike and boasts diverse plant life as you move through oaks, cottonwoods, red buds and dogwoods all skirted with a variety of flowers in the springtime. On this moderate hike, you'll gain 2,150 feet of elevation and enjoy amazing views along the way.

At the trail end you'll find Marble Falls cascading over beautiful marble rock and hear the powerful and thundering water echo through the sheer canyon walls.

As you make the loop around Zumwalt Meadows in Kings Canyon National Park, take the Roaring River Falls Trail for a short hike to the falls. This paved footpath is wheelchair-accessible and leads to the powerful waterfall, which is actually the last in a sequence of cascades. Just beyond the official trail's end, you can get a glimpse of the upper portions of this cascading fall.
