Paddle a canoe.

Although the blueberry season is just finished, there are still fun activities at The Big L Ranch. July is the perfect month for paddling along the river on a lazy afternoon. They are open for boat rentals Thursday - Sunday. Enjoy a 90 minute paddle on the Lower Kaweah when you visit the ranch.

Head to the Lake for a day of water fun.

Kaweah Lake is a great spot for water activities. Rent a patio boat and spend the day floating, swimming and sunning. Boats are available from the Kaweah Marina for rent but book early as this will be a popular spot.

Take a picnic to one of Visalia’s many local parks.

Mooney Grove is the first county park in California and offers lots of Arbors for a picnic. There is lots of wide-open space for a game of tag or frisbee or whatever tradition your family has for the July 4th holiday. Kids will love the play structures, searching for the Log Cabin or feeding the ducks. The lagoon is stocked with fish (license required) and is a great place to teach kids how to cast a line.
