PARKS ARE OPEN DURING ROAD IMPROVEMENT WORK

Maximize your visit to Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks this spring by using our recommended driving routes to see the famous giant sequoia trees.

The Giant Forest area of Sequoia National Park, featuring the General Sherman Tree, Moro Rock, Tunnel Log and more, will remain open and accessible to visitors via Kings Canyon National Park entrance at Highway 180 then south on the Generals Highway. Intermittent closures or delays from the Highway 198 entrance on the road between Hospital Rock and Giant Forest Museum due to planned road improvements may limit access April 29 - May 23, 2024.

For a direct route into the park, without road work delays, travel east on Highway 198 to Hight 63 North, "Downtown Visalia", and connect with Highway 180 via the Big Stump entrance in Kings Canyon. (Estimated drive time is 1.25 hours.) Once in the National Park, continue south on the Generals Highway towards Sequoia National Park. A map is procvided below.
