Visalia to be in National Spotlight: 

C-SPAN reveals Visalia history and highlights authors during weeklong visit

 

Visalia, Calif. (January 4, 2019) - Mayor Bob Link, Comcast and Visit Visalia will welcome C-SPAN to Visalia on Monday, January 7th at 5:00 p.m. outside City Council Chambers at Visalia City Hall as they kick off a visit to record the history and non-fiction literary life of the city on the cable network’s non-fiction book channel Book TV (on C-SPAN2) and history channel American History TV (on C-SPAN3).

In conjunction with the local cable provider, Comcast, C-SPAN producers will reveal the stories and segments that will be explored by the national network.  During their time in Visalia, C-SPAN producers will visit various literary and historic sites, interview local historians, non-fiction authors and conduct educational and community outreach in the area.

Local segments recorded during the week of January 6-10 will air on Book TV (on C-SPAN2, Comcast channel 109) and American History TV (on C-SPAN3, Comcast channel 110) on February 2-3 during a special feature Visalia, California weekend.

The C-SPAN Cities Tour – Exploring the American Story. C-SPAN’s 2019 Cities Tour takes Book TV and American History TV on the road. Book TV (on C-SPAN2) and American History TV (on C-SPAN3) are featuring the literary life and history of each of these selected cities the first and third weekends of each month on the public affairs network. 


AIR DATES:

The programs C-SPAN produce in the city will air throughout a special Visalia weekend February 2-3--literary programming on Book TV (on C-SPAN2, Comcast channel 109) and history programming on American History TV (on C-SPAN3, Comcast channel 110). C-SPAN is available in Visalia on Comcast channel 15.
